Muncy Uses Premium Steel for its SB Buttons
Muncy specifies material for its buttons’ stops that is conducive to better swageability and strength. As such, Muncy’s wire rope buttons are time-testing, having been made for over 50 years. With better swageability comes better die life and less wear on swaging dies.
Muncy Steel Button Ferrule Applications
Carbon steel buttons seem to have an eclectic array of product uses, from picking up pipe (with a Muncy tea cup) to on a roll-off truck (with a Muncy roll-off hook). Some buttons are swaged on cable every few inches for conveyor applications and others used on the end of the rope to be placed inside a drum.

All Muncy Machine and Tool™ fittings are machined from carbon steel specially selected for swaging. Aluminum and stainless steel available upon request.
CAUTION: SB buttons are modeled after Wire Rope Technical Board’s Specifications. SB buttons are recommended for use with 6 x 19 or 6 x 37 IPS or XIP, EIP, RRL, or IWRC wire ropes. Before using an SB button for any other type lay, construction, or grade of wire rope, it is recommended that the termination be proofloaded to prove the adequacy of the assembly. Item numbers are designed to indicate the wire rope size for the particular fitting. For instance, SB-5 is for the 5/32″ wire rope.
